Custom Driveway Gates

We are offering ONE OF A KIND driveway gates like this one we just designed and have started to build

The eagle will be LIFE SIZE – a large eagle descending onto his nest on the cedar gate

gate-w-mountains

First to the welding shop to fabricate the metal portion(s) of the gate
We turned to the father and son team to complete this task. This was the team that hand forged, repaired
and replaced all the metal on the 1886 horse carriage restoration.

project earlier this year.

Much time has to be put into making the curve just right
Cutting, grinding and welding to make nice smooth curves

Day 4 and the large 16′ gate is starting to take shape
LOVE the bracing to prevent the gate from twisting, sagging or bending.
This image looks small but it is 16′ long x 6′ high
These guys are the BEST!

The clear cedar has been custom cut to fit the curve
THEN
Each piece has had Thompson’s water seal applied to all surfaces and allowed to dry for 5 days

BOTH gates have been painted black
The small gate now has the carriage bolts tightened and ready for the trim boards

The entire perimeter has a trim board to “picture frame” the clear cedar

The plugs are left to dry then cut flush prior to sanding

Everything is sanded and another coat of Thompson’s Water Seal is applied

The curve is too extreme for a 1 x 6 to bend to the curve so
we cut the cedar up into strips and clamped it to the curve

Stay tuned folks this is about to get exciting

I heard of MAKING BACON but this is MAKING FEATHERS
over 300 of them

Outline of each feather is laid out on a sheet of metal

lay-out

Each feather is cut out of the sheet by hand – no fancy plasma cutters here folks
hand forged the old fashioned way – quality is job one – give us a call!

Believe it or not – these WILL be feathers
